The St. Paul Grill in downtown St. Paul is hiring immediately for a Restaurant Manager.

This position works closely with Morrissey Hospitality management teams to lead the development and growth the restaurant into a market leader. The Restaurant Manager is focused on consistent delivery of innovative, first-class service and the creation of memorable dining experiences.

Job Responsibilities:

Provides leadership and oversight to all departments within the restaurant.

Develops, sets, and executes the strategic direction with for the restaurant with clear and realistic goals and priorities, in cooperation with Morrissey management.

Reviews and ensures appropriate staffing levels in line with payroll, budget, reservations, guest flow, and guest needs.

Ensures prompt and courteous service while developing an effective flow of guests through the dining room and bar.

Investigates and resolves service/quality complaints and performance issues, including disciplinary procedures.

Maintains close communication with culinary management to ensure proper preparation for expected business volumes and specified timelines are met. Cultivates exceptional vendor relations and works with Morrissey management to pursue aggressive pricing, quality products, and ensure sales.

Develops and establishes systems to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and legal compliance including budgetary, point of sale, cash handling, inventory, staffing, alcohol sales, etc.

Reviews financial transactions and monitors budget to ensure efficient operations and maximum profits, including preparing daily, weekly and monthly financial reports. Completes administrative duties needed to perform job functions as required (e.g., staff schedule, daily and weekly payroll, liquor/beer/wine, supplies, and equipment orders, work orders, memorandums, etc.).

Recruits, hires, and onboards and manages staff and establishes goals and incentives for improving staff performance.

Job Requirements:

At least 4-6 years of related management experience in a high volume, high energy, food and beverage environment.

High level of hospitality, food, and beverage knowledge and experience. Exceptional knowledge in food, wine/liquor/beer and other beverages, and restaurant seating standards.

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong competency in Point-of-Sale systems, working knowledge of office software, reservation systems, and food costing systems.

Strong knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to food, safety, sanitation, alcohol service, and employment.

Able to prepare departmental budget, understand P&L statements, prepare FF&E and capital orders, and other financial data as required.

Ability to meet the physical demands of standing, walking, squatting, lifting and carrying for extended periods of time, to work effectively in a restaurant environment as well as an office environment, and to occasionally travel (locally) to other Morrissey Hospitality business units.

Associate degree preferably in hospitality or business management, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Food Manager Certification preferred.

Alcohol service certification preferred.

Competency in Microsoft Office preferred.
