Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages the overall distribution of retail goods within the broader retail departmental function.
  • Directs and implements the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation.
  • Establishes measurement metrics and sets performance targets for all distribution-related functions that align with company objectives and are within regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensures all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, or other governmental regulations.
  • Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs.
  • Leads and directs the work of the traffic/shipping department to accomplish the delivery responsibilities
  • Selects appropriate delivery/shipping methods to minimize costs
  • Implements data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies.
  • Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the distribution warehouse and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with other departments within the organization to maximize shared service opportunities to reduce wasteful and repetitious labor spend to the company, adhering to all contract guidelines.

Experience :

  • 5 years management experience required.
  • Retail understanding and experience required.
  • Knowledge of Union regulations preferred.

Software/Systems Knowledge:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.

Reporting Relationships :

Reports directly to senior management.
