RF Field Service Engineering Supervisor
Job description
Peraton is seeking an RF Field Services Engineering Supervisor to join our team in Fort Irwin, California to support our Space Communications Network Services Contract (DSN) with NASA.
The successful candidate will plan, direct and coordinate assigned tasks including overall design development modification, installation and testing of 70 meter and 34M antennas. Responsible for all uplink and downlink systems operation, design, development, fabrication, testing, and modification at GDSCC. Manage problem resolution of issues using advanced technical knowledge. Supervises or functions as the leader of one or more work teams consisting of field engineering/engineering specialist and other exempt and/or non-exempt personnel.
- Supervising 9 Union members and 2 salaried Subsystem engineers.
- Reviews the work product for quality and customer/specification compliance
- Organizes work team task/project priorities and performs project management tasks
- Monitors daily operations of RF systems maintenance section, actively assists and/or provides direction to, subordinates as required
- Ensures that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures
- Serves as the customer interface and organizational consultant on significant issues, needing technical guidance, redirection or resolution
- Responds to issues escalated by maintenance personnel, using advanced techniques by analyzing, troubleshooting, diagnosing. Innovates and recommends solutions from available tools and resources
- Directs research study necessary for the improvement or reconfiguration of systems or subsystems equipment after evaluation of available information
- Makes decisions relative to significant problems in equipment performance, customer requirements and relations, and interpretation and application of all pertinent policies and specifications; may require travel between multiple remote locations
- Prepares and conducts special reports and presentations pertinent to company products and services, field operations or other applications
- Analyzes and establishes priorities relative to time and contract coverage
- Represents the company in engineering and related matters involving the customer or subcontractors
- Plans on-the-job training as required in support of the foregoing activities
- Performs employee annual performance appraisals and discusses performance issues with subordinates
- Handles routine disciplinary matters and resolves conflict situations
- Provides recommendations for employees’ annual salary actions
- Acts as a consultant to senior management; champions’ multi-discipline and/or cross-functional teams
- Interface with internal and external customers
- Analyze problems and direct repair
- Document corrective action and analysis of problems using the DRMS and MAXIMO data bases
- Assist operations as required
- Direct implementation of Engineering Changes. Provide corrections and feedback to the appropriate Operation Engineer
- Provide input for Engineering Changes
- Performs various other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Requires BS Degree in Electronics, or related technical degree, and 8+ years of experience, or High School Diploma with 12+ years of related experience is required.
- 5+ years directly related experience with RF Systems
- Experience using software manuals, various electronic test and diagnostic equipment for RF systems, lab view and Unix
- This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
