Job Summary
Position is responsible for diverse insurance and risk transfer/risk retention duties attendant to the management of the system's self-insured captive insurance, physician insurance, and commercial insurance programs that requires independent analysis, interpretation of data, and application of industry best practices and procedures. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree in Business Admin; Risk Management, Insurance or comparable discipline preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Risk, Insurance or Claims certification or licensure preferred

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • A minimum of four (4) years experience in an insurance, claims, or risk management industry role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to perform diverse duties that involve independent analysis, interpretation of data, demonstrated appropriate judgment, and independent initiative in the application of established procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective time management and organization skills
  • Requires excellent collaboration, customer service, and listening skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, have ability to multi-task, and prioritize competing demands

Principal Accountabilities
  • Performs a diverse array of insurance and risk transfer/risk retention services for the insurance services division of Risk Management, including working both under supervision and independently to support a variety of insurance and risk transfer programs.
  • Applies technical insurance knowledge and skills to respond to general policy coverage inquiries, development of reports, to conduct insurance coverage reviews and complete insurance applications.
  • Triages insurance services issues and inquiries both independently and in collaboration with system director to determine best course of action.
  • Coordinates renewal process for expiring policies, including interacting with policy holders.
  • Enters and extracts insurance coverage and claims data for development of reports and for actuarial analysis.
  • Coordinates the documentation requirements in support of the filing of all insurance claims and proofs of loss.
  • Works collaboratively with other service areas of Risk Management.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
