Title- RN (Cardiac CSCU)

Location- Mulberry Street, Scranton, PA

Duration- 3-4 months

Shift time-36 hour, Night shifts

Certificates- ACLS BLS/BCLS required

Responsibilities-

Guaranteed Hours: 36

Cardiac Medical and Interventional experience including post cardiac cath, post PCI and post ablation, pacemaker and AICD insertion. Experience with TIA and Stroke care, syncope, arrhythmia management. Cardiac Telemetry can see ANY type of patient because all patients have a heart and any patient who enters the building can have a heart issue. Staff must be adaptable and well versed in medical surgical care as well as specialist in cardiac care. Need to have basic 12 lead EKG interpretation as well as expert arrhythmia analysis skills. We are a licensed 35 bed unit which houses 2 negative pressure rooms for rule out TB patients. Our ratio is 4 or 5:1 depending on patient acuity. Nights shift ratio may be 5 or 6:1. Staff function independently although we try to have a free charge nurse on day and evening shift. We need nurses who are detail oriented, very adaptable and an expert in assessment skills. Looking for enthusiasm as well as energy, compassion and overt friendliness. Telemetry is an extremely fast paced environment – turning over about 40% of the patient population daily while admitting the same number back into the unit. Nursing plays a major role in the patient’s plan of care and is looked to for suggestions and recommendations. Our team is set composed of an Operations Manager, 2 Clinical Leaders (charge nurses), a Nursing educators , staff nurses and nursing assistants. BLS and ACLS required. Experience with: Cardiac Monitoring equipment, Multiple gtts – Vasoactive as well as antiarrhythmic, Wound/dressing changes Post pacemaker care, Post Cardiac Cath Care – groin/wrist assessment, CVP and PICC line care, Life Vest Skin Care, IV Therapy, Patient Education in all Cardiac Diagnosis.
