RN--Full-time, Rotating schedule, for Crisis Stabilization Center
Job description
Grassroots has been serving the Howard County community for over 50 years and is excited to have opened a Crisis Stabilization Center. We are currently looking for two Registered Nurse professionals to work a rotating schedule of 12-hour shifts as follows with the schedules below:
Opening 1:
Week A: Sunday (overnight 7p-7a), Thursday (overnight 7p-7a), Friday (overnight 7p-7a) & Saturday (overnight 7p-7a)
Week B: Thursday (overnight 7p-7a) & Saturday (overnight 7p-7a)
Opening 2:
Week A: Monday; (overnight 7p - 7a), Tuesday; (overnight 7p - 7a); Wednesday (overnight 7p - 7a)
Week B: Sunday (overnight 7p - 7a); Monday (overnight 7p - 7a); Tuesday (overnight 7p - 7a)
Position Summary: Responsible for planning/providing support and medical/nursing care to individuals admitted to the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Crisis Stabilization Center (CSC).

Primary Responsibilities:
· Admits clients to CSC and completes necessary documentation
· Assesses, plans, and provides nursing care to clients
· Communicates with the on-call prescriber to arrange for prescribing of medication and consult about medical issues
· Administers medications prescribed by the CSC prescriber
· Arranges for further medical attention when necessary
· Completes COWS/CIWA and vital sign checks with clients in the CSC, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and oxygen saturation
· Partners with other behavioral health staff to provide a range of services to admitted clients, including screening, assessment, brief intervention, referral to treatment, removing barriers to treatment, harm reduction counseling, withdrawal management services, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) education, safety assessment/planning, treatment planning, discharge planning, and follow-up services
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Other duties as assigned, required or needed
Agency-wide Responsibilities:
- Participates in supervision, in-service training, and staff meetings
- Maintains good working relationships with co-workers and positively contributes to group morale
- Completes all administrative duties including time sheets, leave requests, etc.
- Participates in special meetings, committees, or projects as needed
- Uses appropriate channels of communication to resolve conflicts with other staff
- Interacts with staff, clients, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
Education and Experience:
· Active, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse at the bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree level
· A minimum of 3 years of experience working with individuals with mental health issues and/or substance use disorders
· Preferred experience in a community setting
· Possession of a valid Maryland driver’s license required
Skills and Abilities:
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to function successfully in an environment requiring immediate response to urgent situations
· Knowledge of community resources
· Analytical and problem-solving skills
· Computer skills with various software and the internet
· Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
Work Conditions:
· Use of personal vehicle for work-related activities, including obtaining medications from the pharmacy (reimbursable mileage)
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard
· Must be able to lift 25lbs
