Department Mission

Instill proper knowledge, skills, and attitude in shooting sports participants. Provide high quality instruction, direct leadership, and mentorship in all shooting venues.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Oversight and direct leadership of all Barrels programs to highest and best use
  • Training and supervision of Rifle, Shotgun, and Pistol Instructors
  • Management of ammunition, firearms, and staff
  • Ensure safety on all ranges in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Provide role model leadership to staff and youth
  • Lead experience in various shotgun disciplines, archery, crossbow, or other events
  • Other duties or projects as assigned by SBR leadership
  • Abide by policies and procedure outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Qualifications & Training
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Preferred: Experience managing firearm ranges
  • NRA Instructor certifications in Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun (training provided)
  • USA Archery Level 1+ certification (training provided)
  • Be or become a registered member of the National Rifle Association
  • Ability to use Microsoft Teams daily for work related communication and coordination
  • Be or become a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America

Performance Results
  • Completes contract period with 2-4 positive experiences
  • Receive one or more Staff Appreciation Cards from staff or participants
  • Contribute at least one improvement to Shooting Sports program operations
  • Provide at least one memorable moment that matters to a participant

Physical Requirements
  • Multiple hours a day of either standing, walking, hiking, and the ability to lift 50-70 lbs.
  • Can pass the physical exam and approved for SBR height and weight requirements HERE
