Lynden Air Cargo is looking for a self-motivated and process driven individual who has a passion for safety culture. The Safety Assurance Specialist assists in the development, promotion, and communication of the company’s safety policies and procedures. You will be working alongside the Director of Safety as well as all of Lynden Air Cargo’s internal and external partners to support all safe operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to Include:
  • Performs duties in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo’s Employee Handbook, LAC Manuel System and applicable CFR’s.
  • Provides training to managers and employees in a variety of safety and security topics. Effectively communicates and participates in daily interactions with leadership and other departments to ensure follow through and completion of safety actions, corrective actions, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure compliance with established procedures and ensure safety processes are integrated into the operations.
  • Processes reports submitted through the company’s employee reporting system, including hazard reports, incidents, and accidents, injuries, and fatigue reports.
  • In the event of an incident or accident, assists in the investigation process including preparing investigation reports, determining root causes and provides recommendations for corrective action.
  • Assists in the development, promotion, and communication of safety through the quarterly safety newsletter and other safety communication methods such as Safety Alerts and Safety Notices.
  • Acts as the alternate ASAP Program Manager, including facilitating the ERC meetings and corrective action implementation for all ASAP reports submitted.
  • Provides Emergency Procedures Manual training to applicable employees and coordinate contract training for management. Act as an alternate Go-team member and back up to the Director of Safety in the event the EPM is activated.
  • Responsible for the Internal Evaluation Program (IEP), to include auditing and evaluating all operational areas within the company. Analyze data from the Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) and make system safety improvement recommendations. This includes but is not limited to scheduling, communicating, executing, and documenting over 30 internal evaluations per year.
  • Performs audits and inspections on the HSE program elements for compliance with training and procedures. Manages the OSHA Hearing Conversation Program, facilitates and tracks employee training and testing.
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, ADEC, FAA, TSA, NTSB. Facilitates external audits on the company from regulatory agencies, and customers when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years Part 135 or 121 safety management experience; and/or two years previous internal evaluation or internal audit experience, data collection and previous training experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
FAA Certificate (pilot, A&P, aircraft dispatch) preferred
OSHA safety accreditation (preferred)

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related software programs.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays, if required. Must be able to travel occasionally. Must be able to pass Security Threat Assessment and hold a current Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

A post conditional drug test and background investigation are required.

Random drug testing is required of all Lynden Air Cargo employees.
