Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Safety Coordinator is to work with EnterSource’s management team to identify initial and ongoing safety training, and safety development needs in order to drive employee training initiatives as they relate to safety. Additional responsibilities will include devising organizational safety training strategies for new product lines, overseeing new safety product implementation, managing new safety product outcomes, and evaluating overall safety productivity through performance metrics. EnterSource is committed to achieving safety excellence and the Safety Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical and professional safety support to the field. Overall, the Safety Coordinator will be tasked with creating and maintaining an environment in which the developmental needs of the employee are met in order for them to enhance their skills, performance, productivity and quality of work as they relate to safety. Someone in this role must exhibit strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as a safety mindset.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a team to develop an overall or individualized safety training and safety development plan that addresses organization needs and expectations.
  • Create and maintain online and in-person safety training programs.
  • Deploy a variety of safety training methods and manage the continuing safety education of employees at all levels of the company to ensure that all EnterSource talent is operating safely in a manner that continues to drive its growth and success.
  • Create, update, and deliver safety training sessions and curriculum via a variety of written, verbal or electronic instructional techniques. Coordinate safety training activities or events as needed.
  • Prepare safety presentation materials for safety and compliance training programs and weekly, and or monthly safety meetings.
  • Develop and maintain proper communication channels to ensure employees have knowledge of safety training events, as well as other general safety information that is needed.
  • Maintain effective relationships with management and employees regarding all safety matters to determine required safety training.
  • Visit customer sites and office locations to evaluate effectiveness of training programs.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices.
  • Conduct follow-up studies and periodically report on completed safety training programs to monitor, evaluate, and measure the program's effectiveness, success, and ROI.
  • Introduce the role of the Safety Coordinator to trainees and create a point of contact for any safety training progress, concerns or setbacks.
  • Maintain safety training records and work with the local management teams to resolve any safety training concerns, as well as provide alternate solutions that are tailored to the individual or group needs.
  • Assist with monitoring safety performance metrics.
  • Launch proactive safety initiatives aimed at reducing workplace injuries.
  • Analyze accident data to develop strategies to minimize or prevent recurrence.
  • Seek out and implement new technologies which assist in the identification of workplace hazards, track recommendations, and monitor overall effectiveness.
  • Ensure that current safety training methods are in compliance with OSHA and other State and Federal operational and safety regulations.
  • Conduct environmental, health and safety (EHS) regulatory compliance audits to identify risks or find opportunities for process improvement and determine workplace compliance with industry regulations.

Requirements:
  • Must have held a leadership position in a safety program for at least 2 years.
  • Provide constant attention to EnterSource’s values and inspire peers and subordinates.
  • Lead a culture of safety and talent development of individuals or teams.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
  • Experience as a training manager in building training curriculum and safety programs.
  • History of leading teams and designing and executing successful training programs.
  • General knowledge of the telecommunications trade and ability to convey fundamentals (preferred but not required).
  • Adept at using technology and basic internal and external computer programs.
  • Ability to plan, multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Self-motivated and works under limited supervision.
  • Leadership skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with the development and delivery of training materials.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, eLearning, workshops, simulations, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally at all levels with clarity and precision.
  • Improve and promote quality through effective problem solving and innovative thought processes.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule, including additional work on weekends and holidays as needed. Frequent travel to various office locations and job sites.

Education and Experience:

This job requires at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent and 5+ years experience in safety management or leadership. Preferred applicants have 2+ years experience in the utilities construction or telecommunications home services industry. Experience developing safety programs is preferred but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often be exposed to a professional office environment as well as outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle small parts, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift up to 100 pounds for short distances and/or move bulky objects. From time to time the employee will load, unload, carry and set up a 24-28 foot ladder and will be required to climb ladders in a safe manner. The employee, including any tools and/or equipment that is carried, must be able to remain within the weight requirements of a 300 pound ladder. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. Frequent travel to office locations or customer job sites is required to ensure safety practices are being executed appropriately and that field employees are properly trained on the safest ways of carrying out their job. Overnight travel will be upwards of 50% of the time.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license is required (subject to verification). Non-negligent Motor Vehicle Record is required for company owned vehicle position.
