Sheakley Workforce Management Services is currently seeking a Safety Engineer for a position in Louisville, KY. Our client is one of the nation's leading construction organizations. This is a direct hire position.

POSITION SUMMARY: Individual will work with project site teams to ensure safety compliance. Will also implement safety directives and make recommendations to improve safety performance. Will ensure that safety procedures and policies are aligned with government regulations.

May have to travel from site to site within Louisville, KY. The Client may be able to provide a company vehicle, but if not when hired they will start by paying mileage for project site-to-site travel.

Must be local to the area

In office position

The schedule is M-F 8 am-5 pm

JOB DUTIES:

  • Serve as a resource to active project teams to achieve best-in-class safety culture.
  • Proactively manage travel as needed, to fulfill the Safety and Risk Management needs of active projects.
  • Communicate daily with Site Management teams to assess where needs are greatest.
  • Recommend actions and techniques to prevent incidents and near misses.
  • Monitor progress and effectiveness of corrective safety measures.
  • Collect and evaluate safety, loss and accident data, recommend solutions or prevention strategies, and prepare management reports.
  • Assist the Corporate Safety Director in the development and implementation of corporate safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and related policies such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Perform/coordinate air quality and noise monitoring.
  • Review contractor site safety programs.
  • Maintain safety training records.
  • Assist Site Superintendents in administering counseling to employees and subcontractors who are in non-compliance with safety requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings/jobsite reviews as part of overall project coordination meetings.
  • Assist Corporate Safety Director to conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Construction safety related experience a plus
  • General working knowledge of OSHA construction standards
  • Willing and able to travel when necessary
  • Creative thinker "outside the box"
  • The ability for formulate and execute safety procedures, programs, and checklist.
  • Ability to facilitate in-class and onsite training.
  • Present a professional image to client employees, subcontractors, and owners at all times.
  • Ability to follow instructions, read and interpret instructions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to travel when necessary
  • Ability to walk, climb, and navigate through various terrains that are present on projects
