We are searching for an engaging, passionate, Science Instructor, Part-Time Temporary to help lead our college during this ever-changing Community College environment.

*** Summer Program will run from May 30,2023 through June 29,2023***

Primary Site Location: Beeville

Essential Functions:

The program’s instructor works closely with the Upward Bound & Upward Bound Rural (UB/UBR) Project Directors to ensure success in meeting the program’s purpose and objectives by providing instruction and guidance to all students who enroll in such classes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach high school biology, chemistry and/or physics.
  • Create daily/weekly lesson plans for instruction.
  • Monitor and keep a daily log of student attendance, behavior, and academic development.
  • Assess teaching and learning outcomes and provide essential feedback to Program Directors.
  • Development of curriculum and provide a written evaluation of each participant enrolled in the class.
  • Provide guidance for students in the areas of social and personal growth.
  • Be on time for classes and notify the Program Directors as early as possible of an unscheduled absence.
  • Provide lesson assignments and any other necessary materials or equipment for substitute teacher.
  • Report students' behavior problems as they arise.

Travel Requirements:

None.

Environment:

Conduct job functions on the Coastal Bend College campus. There will be daily interaction with students in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience in high school or at a college level in appropriate disciple.
  • Ability to implement web-based or general technology applications into instruction.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity towards target area population and teaching experience.
  • Training in tutoring strategies and techniques for secondary populations preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching/tutoring/participating with a TRIO program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in science or related field preferred.
