The Position
The Department of Immunology Discovery at Genentech is seeking a highly talented, driven and motivated Scientist 3 to investigate across multiple chronic inflammatory disease indications, within collaborative efforts across departments aimed at identifying therapeutic targets. These studies will utilize new and emerging genomic technologies, employed in various model systems. The successful candidate will work to translate disease-relevant biology into in vitro model systems, along with optimization of associated biological readouts. These model systems will be used as platforms in downstream experimentation, including functional and mechanistic studies.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the development and optimization of in vitro cell culture models
Perform disease-oriented research to identify relevant biology that can be employed in model systems
Independently design, execute, and interpret experiments
Coordinate project efforts within and across departments
Analyze genomic data sets generated
Strong candidates for this position will possess most of the following attributes:
PhD degree and post-doctoral(preferred) experience in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related field.
Strong understanding of basic cellular and molecular biology.
Experience in tissue culture techniques & complex in vitro models(primary cells, iPSCs, & 2D/3D organoids), advanced flow cytometry, ELISA, genomic technologies (RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, etc), CRISPR-based technologies, and microscopy.
Demonstrated competence in a programming language such as R or python
Record of productive research in the form of publications.
Experience and willingness to work with human and animal tissues.
Excellent communication skills and willing to work in a collaborative environment.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $98,200 - $182,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
