Available Roles:

Full-Time Hourly

General Duties:

1. Respond to all facility emergencies/codes in a timely manner and facilitate the resolution as needed.

2. Ensure cameras are monitored, guests and visitors are signed-in, resident safety checks are performed as scheduled and emergency response is timely and appropriate to the situation.

3. Investigate all allegations of items reported missing from residents, in cooperation with nursing staff, families and local law enforcement authorities as needed.

4. Investigate and file appropriate paperwork for all employee accidents and incidents with regard to worker’s compensation requirements and facility policies and procedures.

5. Investigate suspicious activity or possessions of employees, visitors, and/or residents.

6. Take part in representing the facility in community emergency preparedness activities, including drills, education, and communications.

7. Coordinate efforts with the Maintenance and Housekeeping departments to resolve safety hazards or issues of non-compliance as identified.

8. Perform regular environmental rounds to ensure a safe environment for residents, staff, visitors and guests and to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations with regard to sprinkler and fire detection systems, fire alarms, hoses and extinguishers, fire barriers, stairways and exits, electrical wiring and equipment, waste disposal, compressed gases, chemicals kitchen, incinerator operation.

9. Oversee incoming and outgoing mail functions.

10. Coordinate the distribution and maintenance of cell phones and pagers to staff.

11. Keep Director of Safety and Security, Administrator, Assistant Administrator and Director of Nursing informed of issues as they arise and the status of on-going investigations as they proceed.

12. Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence

13. Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area

14. Secure all exits, doors and windows throughout facility

15. Provide assistance to people in need

16. Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities

17. Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand and walk throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, bend, stoop, reach frequently throughout the workday.
• Ability to communicate in person, on the telephone and in writing.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of safety and security practices, procedures and guidelines.
• Ability to manage department staff and function as a team players.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to meet departmental objectives utilizing critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work well in stressful situations.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Current/Active Security License Preferred
