NOTE: This full-time position m ust be able to work different shifts to accommodate department needs with varying hours and days off, which may include evening hours, depending on the business needs of the college. A successful candidate must be able to follow verbal communications and be able to read and comprehend written directions. Also, must be able to interpret written directives, policies, and memos.

Patrolling and Call Responses
- Conduct security patrols of the campus, buildings and facilities on foot or by other means (i.e. patrol car, bicycle, etc.) and provide stationary security post duties as assigned.
- Respond to all calls for service directed by radio, telephone and/or supervisory and management personnel of the Security Department.
- Ensure that security supervisory and management personnel are notified in a proper and timely manner of breaches of security occurring on college properties or of information received that may create a security risk for College properties such as trespassers and contact local law enforcement as appropriate.
- Perform safety escorts to and from vehicles and College facilities upon request from members of the campus community including students, college staff, employees, and others.
- Check areas for unauthorized personnel or movement of students.
- Patrol the campus facilities including parking lots and open spaces to deter crime and disruptions caused by physical or verbal conflict between students and/or visitors.
- Physically inspect buildings and check doors, windows, entries and exits for safety.
- Respond to alarms and communicate and assist fire and police departments.
- Provide customer service by enthusiastically providing information and services.
- Provide initial response to emergencies and incidents on campus and complete initial investigations to determine disposition.
- Conduct investigations of security matters on campus.
- Write complete, accurate and timely reports to record campus incidents and document investigations and maintain logs relating to activity on campus. This requires strong oral and written communication skills to include basic computer and typing proficiency.
- Originate and file written reports utilizing computer aided reporting systems, regarding activities and incidents occurring on college properties and information received from other sources pertaining to security or incidents on properties or within the community.
- Properly report and track incidents on campus for the work leader to include in the federally mandated Clery Act reports.
- Work with law enforcement to preserve evidence in incidents that may be criminal in nature.
- Control the flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic on campus property.
- Enforce all College rules and regulations on college properties owned or leased as specified in Standard Operating Procedures.
- Challenge trespassers, loiterers, errant vehicle operators and all others who create a safety and security risk to students and staff and threaten the overall security and integrity of the physical assets and property of the College including violations of the student code of conduct.
- Respond to and assist in resolving conflicts and confrontations on campus.
- Assist with crowd control as needed.
- Issue campus parking warnings.

- Exercise proper care and maintenance of all College owned or leased equipment including vehicles assigned to or utilized for duty.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge and high-level proficiency with campus safety and security systems.
- Campus Security Authorities are obligated by law to report crimes that pose an ongoing threat to the community immediately to the Police Department.
HIGHLY REQUESTED: Candidates possessing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered highly desirable:
Strong oral and written communication skills- Experience and ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Understand and determine appropriate rules and regulations from various sources.
- Strong attention to detail
- Currently certified in First Aid/CPR/AED
- Basic computer knowledge to include Microsoft Suite (Word and Outlook)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Prior security or law enforcement experience at a higher education institution
- Experience working with two-way radios.
SUBSTITUTION: One year (30 semester hours) of college, university or non-correspondence business school course work from an accredited institution in Law Enforcement or similar field may substitute for the one year of experience. YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS OR CERTIFICATION TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THIS SUBSTITUTION BY THE CLOSING DATE IF YOU ARE APPLYING USING THIS SUBSTITUTION.
