This position reports to the Sr. Security Manager of AES Ohio. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with different AES Ohio business areas as well as communicate with Law Enforcement. This is an hourly position.
Security Officer (Road Patrol) Requirements:
Must be a citizen of the United States Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age Must be a high school graduate or have a high school equivalency certificate Must have a valid driver’s license An applicant MUST NOT:
Have been convicted of any felony charges
Have been convicted of any misdemeanor charges in the last five (5) years involving moral turpitude. All misdemeanor convictions will be reviewed by Department staff, who will then decide if applicant will be accepted
AES Ohio Position Qualifications:
- Have well-developed planning, organizing, interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organized self-sufficient self-starter
- Flexible to work independently or with a group
- Must complete and pass all HR requirements including medical/criminal background/drug testing/BMV
- Must be able to use a computer, navigate computer applications including but not limited to physical access systems, security cameras, time keeping, incident reporting program and email
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general guidance, participates in continuous, safe, and efficient operations while administering to the employee population and public to achieve maximum business results relating to overall safety, performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.
Security Officers in the Road Patrol unit assist in ensuring the safety and security of employees, contractors, customers, and assets by patrolling substations and facilities, responding to incidents and alarms, coordinating initial crisis management response, preparing internal reports, and assisting employees and contractors with hostile individuals on company property and in the field.
Contact hostile customers, escort, and standby at job sites for field crews when requested.
Act as liaison between the company and Law Enforcement.
Communicate activities and incidents with the Intelligence Security Operations Center (iSOC) and management.
Adhere to company policies and procedures that include participating in company-mandated training sessions such as annual training and certification in Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), pursuant to federal mandates.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred:
An ideal candidate will have two or more years’ experience in Law Enforcement or the Energy or Utility industry, experience supporting a 24x7 real time operations environment, experience supporting systems subject to regulatory compliance requirements, or experience with FERC and/or NERC.
An ideal candidate could also be current active reserve Law Enforcement.
This is a Full-Time position located in Dayton, Ohio.
Working Conditions:
This position is roving/mobile field work, in all seasons, at least forty hours per week. This position requires a combination of sitting in a vehicle, walking/standing for various periods of time. Some lifting may be required depending on circumstance. Shift work may include some holidays, nights, weekends, or occasional shifts outside of the regular assigned schedule to cover staffing needs. This position is unarmed.
