For 175 years the Buffalo Diocesan Council has been serving people in need in seven of the eight counties in the diocese and is now the oldest continuously operating charity in Western New York. Headquartered in a building at 1298 Main St., Buffalo, the diocesan Council is an independent charity, which serves nearly 100,000 residents of our community each year. AS part of this, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul operates through our discount store, dining room and home visit services which provide food, services, and supplies to those in need, all with the mission to ease the suffering of our fellow human beings.

We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to complete various Finance and Accounting tasks within the Charity. This person will be responsible for ensuring daily and monthly accounting and financial reporting needs are met for the business ranging from basic bookkeeping to payroll oversight, monthly reconciliations, and general administrative oversight. This position will report to the Executive Director. Other major accountabilities include:

· Complete Finance and Accounting Oversight:Includes management of general accounting systems, and management of all fiscal controls and standards. Includes monthly reconciliations, tax and auditing, preparing financial statements, budgeting, forecasting and analysis, and reporting for the Charity board.

· Accounts Payable and Receivable processing and oversight.

· General Administrative oversightincluding Payroll and benefit administration and compliance, Management of insurances and other administrative vendors, grant reporting and allocations, etc.

This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

● BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or other related field.

● Minimum 5 years’ experience in a position of similar scope, responsibility, and leadership.

● Experience working in the finance/accounting function of a non-profit setting highly preferred.

● Proficiency with QuickBooks (not QuickBooks Online) and learn Donor Perfect, and Thriftworks.

● Experience working with grants and grant-based cost-allocation.

● Team oriented, high attention to detail, good communication skills to work closely inter-departmentally.
