HJF is seeking a Senior Advisor on Global Health Engagement Research to serve as an adviser to the Principal Investigator, Program/Project Manager, and other members of the research team to effectively implement USU CGHE's Research strategy.
This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) Center for Global Health Engagement (CGHE). CGHE works to lead, integrate and synchronize the University’s contributions to Department of Defense (DoD) global health engagement and national security objectives by providing a hub for GHE thought leadership and knowledge, strategic communications and outreach, operational support, research, and capability integration of education, training and planning. HJF provides direct scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CGHE.
The Senior Advisor builds and maintains relationships within internal and external stakeholders to achieve project goals and objectives, proposes solutions to improve project productivity and efficiency, abd leads the development of project/research plans, reports, papers, presentations and other key deliverables.
- Provides strategic oversight, advice, and guidance on new and established CGHE programs and projects to primarily include the design and implementation of CGHE’s research strategy.
- Coordinates with Combatant Commands (CCMDs) and other external stakeholders to facilitate relationships and receipt of data required for research and implementation efforts.
- Contributes toward project plans and reporting documents; Authors publications and delivers project-related presentations.
- Assesses programs and projects on an iterative basis to ensure optimal productivity and ongoing alignment with research goals.
- Provides relevant military and DoD operational knowledge to all center projects.
- Contextualizes and translates project work and findings at the strategic and operational levels, so that they are relevant to both medical and line communities.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, potentially austere and/or low-resource areas.
- English language fluency (required).
- Foreign language proficiency (preferred).
- International work experience (required).
- Previous U.S. Military active duty experience (highly preferred).
- Currency in clinical health care delivery and standards of care (preferred).
Physical Capabilities
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials over 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting. Occasional international travel to austere locations will be required. Program execution occasionally requires work in the early mornings, evenings, and on weekends.
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Master’s Degree Preferred
- Minimum of more than 10 years experience required
