Starting salary up to $29.07/hour ($60,672/year) plus a cash allowance of approximately $600/month, and a competitive total compensation package!*

- Collecting fruit and analyzing fruit juice samples for pH, sugar, and titratable acidity
- Collecting plant, animal, and soil samples and preparing them for analysis
- Applying chemicals, including pesticides and fertilizers
- Insect trap deployment, collecting, and counting along with assessing fruit for insect damage
- Mapping field plots and assisting farm advisors with field research and data collection
- Conducting field and/or agricultural work
- Collecting and preserving plant tissue, soil samples, and other field work related to livestock, range management, specialty crops and dairy
- Performing statistical analysis of data and drafting summary reports
- Facilitating outreach and community engagement functions, including social media

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Any combination of course work or training including on the job training which would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities stated herein. Normally, course work or training in the natural or agricultural sciences, statistics and related subjects would provide such opportunity.
Experience: Any combination of paid or volunteer work experience which would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and ability stated herein. Normally, lead work or subject matter specialty work on special agricultural or related scientific projects of a year or more would provide such opportunity.
License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level, including special endorsements as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of: the methods of planting, growing, treating and harvesting agricultural crops; methods used in location, identification and control of a variety of pests and weeds; the application, handling, disposal, storage, and reporting requirements of pesticides and other chemicals relating to agricultural commodities; a variety of audio-visual aides.
Knowledge of: computer applications to agricultural projects; computer hardware and software applications related to the compilation and statistical analysis of data and production reports; training and project coordination techniques.
Ability to: use specialized soil and water measurement devices, laboratory instrumentation devices and agricultural applications equipment; operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner pursuant to department policy and regulatory agency requirements; communicate orally or in writing; train and lead project workers; develop effective working relationships between peers, supervisors, elected officials, community representatives, members of the public, and others who have an interest in Sonoma County agriculture; learn to perform basic research associated with agricultural projects; operate a computer and use software applications for data compilation and analysis specifically related to agricultural projects.

The selection procedure will consist of the following examination:
