Job description
GRS has an opening for a full-time Senior Analyst in its Southfield, Michigan or Chicago, Illinois office providing technical support and assistance to consultants and actuaries in the areas of Pension and OPEB.
The Primary Responsibilities of a Senior Analyst at GRS are as follows:
- Prepare actuarial valuations (Pension & OPEB)
- Calculate benefits for retiring and terminating members as well as calculate the present value of benefits and options
- Prepare information and data for analysis
- Prepare proposal valuations or studies
- Direct work of analysts and interns
- Interact with clients
- Provide other non-recurring assistance as directed
We ask that candidates possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- BA/BS in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field
- Near ASA; has successfully completed all of the preliminary actuarial exams
- Strong communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Access
- Proficiency in computer programming skills: Fortran or Visual Basic
- Candidate should be able to work both individually and as part of a team
In addition, it is preferred that the successful candidate possesses the following:
- 3 or more years of hands-on actuarial experience with public or private employer benefit plans
- Advanced computer programming skills (experience with ProVal technologies is preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word and Access
- Proven OPEB experience with the ability to set up and run OPEB valuations
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
