Job Summary
As a Senior Applications Analyst/Developer, you will provide advanced professional knowledge and skills in information systems problem identification, requirements definition and determination of alternative solutions and to provide the analysis, design, development (coding), testing, implementation and support of Mainframe Systems Development Division (MSDD) systems including, but not limited to, MAXIS and PRISM. The position will also provide lead work and be a subject matter expert in the analysis, design, development (coding), implementation and support of the assigned project work.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
- Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a remote telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies.
- Candidates residing outside of Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) require additional review prior to telework approval upon becoming a finalist.
- Candidates located in Minnesota, or a bordering state, do not require additional review.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:
Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of technology experience as a Mainframe Application developer.
Experience must also include the following:
- Experience in analyzing, designing, programming, and testing applications
- Experience working with Natural as a developer
- Ability to evaluate and recommend alternative solutions to solve system level problems
- Experience working within a large diverse System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
A Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field may substitute for three (3) years of experience, OR a related Bachelor’s degree may substitute for two (2) years, OR a related Associate’s may substitute for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Mainframe databases such as ADABAS, Oracle, Sybase, DB2, or other (IMS)
- Experience working with JCL and TSO as a developer
- A team player with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff
- Skill in system documentation, estimation, and analysis
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability sufficient to identify problems, recommend alternative solutions, evaluate the best solution, implement the plan, and assess the effectiveness
- Ability to solve system-wide complex problems with minimal supervision
- Great attention to detail and time-management skills
