Position Description

This is a non-Civil Service position in the Office of Family Safety, and will provide full Case Management services to Family Safety Center (FSC) and/or Jean Crowe Advocacy Center (JCAC) clients and will serve as a liaison with law enforcement, the Sheriff’s Office, non-profit organizations, the District Attorney’s Office, Department of Human Services with the State of Tennessee, Legal Aid, and other programs as needed to assist victims of interpersonal violence in achieving safety and resource utilization.

Candidates must submit in the attachment section a cover letter, resume, and a 1-page writing sample on trauma-informed service provisions for victims/survivors of interpersonal violence.

Typical Duties

  • Provide case management services for victims of interpersonal violence (domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, child abuse, and elder abuse) including:
    • Pre-screen referred individuals to assess applicability for program.
    • Determine needs and formulate weekly and monthly case plan to address needs.
    • Manage client intakes, session documentation, and assessments.
    • Monitor clients’ progress toward client-centered goals.
    • Advocate and refer clients to a variety of community resources.
    • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to update and monitor client progress.
    • Facilitate effective communication with service providers and clients.
    • Identify and facilitate meaningful community partnerships with relevant providers.
    • Provide weekly community-based client meetings.
    • Provide support for clients for legal proceedings, as needed.
    • Input and manage client files and data in a timely manner.
    • Engage in ongoing client meetings and trainings, as required.
  • Serve as supervisor on duty when the Assistant Director cannot be present, including supervising Case Management staff and handling client or center related issues as they arise.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients and their files in accordance with federal and state law.
  • Act as a liaison between program staff and leadership, as well as providing professional mentorship to program staff.
  • Serve as task supervisor for interns, as needed.
  • Liaise with both Metro ITS and JIS support staff in order to ensure grant compliance and the daily operation of the OFS client database.
  • Troubleshoot any database issues with staff and assist with their database training and quality assurance.
  • Compile and analyze statistics for the client services case management program, including assistance with reporting.
  • Assist with special projects as needed by OFS Leadership staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with victims of interpersonal violence or related issues
  • Experience working in or with both non-profits and the criminal justice system

  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to engage in positive collaboration with individuals and groups with diverse perspectives.
  • Demonstrate ability to be flexible within work hours – direct client services sometimes result in working over the designated shift; however, flex time is provided.
  • Experience with data management and analytics, particularly Microsoft Access
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams / collaboratives.
  • Experience working under and reporting on grants.
