Senior Construction Manager - (Nashville)

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direction and training to Construction Managers on Construction Team
- Provide detailed reviews of project documents; make recommendations as needed
- Participate in contractor/vendor evaluation, bid analysis, and contract award decisions
- Manage day-to-day work on projects in various construction phases; coordinate and make recommendations regarding status of work
- Review contractor requests through formal or informal processes and provide prompt responses to keep projects on schedule
- Review and provide recommendations on potential Change Orders on projects and process per contractual requirements, providing detailed analysis of impacts to budget and schedule
- Monitor and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, variances, and contingencies that may arise during the construction of projects to the Director of Construction
- Monitor contractor and vendor progress and performance, review and approve invoices, and resolve payment and project disputes
- Collaborate with on-site construction team and internal team to ensure project is completed on schedule, within budget and meets or exceeds quality standards and expectations
- On assigned projects, conduct site walk with contractor to produce project punch list. Assure Punch List items are resolved prior to turnover to the Merchandising Team
- Manage internal and external teams’ performance and work with Director of Construction to take action to resolve performance issues quickly to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Recommend departmental and project process improvements to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.
- Provide direction and assistance to Maintenance Team to help resolve complex maintenance issues
- Conduct assigned facility inspections; inspections will follow a specific format covering all areas of building and property conditions. All issues will be entered into the Corrigo maintenance system allowing for work scheduling, project tracking and timely follow-up and response
- Always represent DSG in a professional manner that is consistent with the company’s values, including maintaining current project-specific knowledge, being prepared for project meetings, proactively communicating with the project team, and meeting deadlines and commitments
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and performance standards
- Contribute to company’s culture, mission and values through leadership and actions
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, and/or other related fields or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5-years commercial construction project management (ground-up, historic, adaptive reuse, high-end TI's) required. Retail construction experience is a plus
- Proven experience as a construction project manager
- Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to focus on details while also managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Exceptional negotiating skills
- Proven organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software
- Familiar with quality and safety standards
- Outstanding Attendance and Punctuality
