Responsibilities

Provides legal counsel and advice supporting financing, development, construction, procurement, origination, and asset management activities relating to renewable energy projects.
As needed, reviews and drafts contracts and other legal documents to which Avangrid Renewables and its affiliates are a party, including NDAs, Power Purchase Agreements, Interconnection Agreements, corporate guaranties, and routine construction and procurement contracts.
Represents the company in major transactions and negotiations relating to renewable energy projects, including turbine supply and other major purchases, financing and tax equity transactions, joint ventures and other matters.
Manages outside counsel.
Preferred candidates will have some combination of the following:
Experience with legal issues relating to renewable energy project development, financing, construction, and operations, including financing and tax equity transactions, joint ventures and other matters.
Prior exposure to large infrastructure projects and associated siting and development issues.
Experience with Power Purchase Agreements, Interconnection Agreements and other agreements relating to renewable energy projects.
Familiarity with federal and state permitting, environmental and regulatory matters impacting renewable energy development, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and other wildlife management and protection statutes.
Familiarity with the rules and orders of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), specifically as they relate to renewable energy projects and compliance.
Litigation experience.

Skills/Abilities: Excellent oral and written communications skills, with emphasis on clear and concise writing that can be understood by employees at all levels, Superior attention to detail and accuracy, Ability to lead and manage multiple projects, work independently, and meet deadlines, Ability to obtain and analyze information from multiple sources, and to objectively develop, challenge, and verify conclusions, Ability to securely handle sensitive, confidential, and privileged information. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Able to analyze complex legal issues and advise on appropriate corporate response.Strong experience with common business software tools, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel). The ideal candidate would have eight (8) or more years of experience counseling renewable energy companies (or comparable experience in the sector) at a law firm or as in-house counsel. Location: Portland, Oregon or Orange, Connecticut. Required Education: J.D. and State bar admission in Oregon/Connecticut or ability to waive into local Bar.
