This position requires technician to work in a highly time critical environment.
Shift: 15:00 – 23:00
Under limited supervision, the technician will provide 24x7 smart hands services in the Operations’ command center – in support of UNISYS and IBM mainframe systems. Technician will monitor IBM and UNISYS consoles, and enter appropriate system commands to perform critical tasks and actions.
Technician also has primary responsibility for maintaining and performing day-to-day operational functions, in addition to other Operation technician duties as required.
Technician must be able to utilize extreme attention to detail to follow all established documented processes, using ITSM tools. Service level Agreements (SLA) apply to the timeliness and accuracy of the work performed, which can include substantial financial penalties. The technician will also utilize independent judgement on the best way(s), or by using best practices, to perform monitoring and batch recovery functions. This requirement is based on not being able to anticipate every scenario, and to timely escalate all unresolved issues. Technician will interact closely with the customer, 3rd party application programmers, Level 3 Technical support, 3rd party vendors and/or other partners to maintain the integrity of the client’s environment.
Critical functions performed by technician include (but are not limited to) the following actions:
§ Monitor batch cycles using BMC ControlM, CA ESP, and UNISYS (WFL) scheduling software
§ Perform nightly backups of all production systems
§ Prepare tape media for offsite storage for disaster recovery
§ Perform escalation callout notifications, following established standard processes and policies
§ Perform account-balancing tasks utilizing paper reports, batch job output
§ Perform routine media management activities, including incoming and outgoing inventory of offsite media
§ Document inventory following established standard processes and policies.
§ Perform print activities using Solimar Print Director and Xerox printers.
§ Contact vendors as required for maintenance
§ Perform work under project/change tasks, create/update/reassign/resolve incident tickets
§ Create/update/reassign/resolve request and incident tickets utilizing ticketing system
§ Hands and Feet support as required
