The eCommerce Senior Digital Category Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the e-commerce product category strategies focused on revenue and margin growth for assigned product category portfolios. The digital category manager owns the P&L for their assigned categories and is expected to generate new business lines with current and potential vendors to achieve budgeted sales goals across Marketplaces, Pureplays / dot coms and Drop Ship or Retail National Accounts. They will manage vendor/supplier relationships, add items to our assortment, negotiate competitive terms and services that will accelerate. Assesses financial state, supplier performance, product mix, and market growth opportunities of categories to formulate an overall strategic category plan. They will also develop and executes exit strategies for unsuccessful products. The digital category manager will need to clearly communicate their category strategy within the consumer markets organization with the intent of driving prioritization & partnership with marketing, legal, inventory, pricing, operations & channel management on the execution of their tactical plans to deliver intended results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vendor Management: own Supplier / Consumer Markets business relationship. Assortment management & performance review. Negotiate value added agreements to promote brands & manage internal stakeholders on the execution of vendor agreed projects.
  • P&L owner for product category portfolios. Monitor & improve product financials by managing to Sales budget, Margin improvement and finding opportunities to improve the bottom line. Work with internal Financial and Analytics on market research to find products gaps or market changes that could influence new product opportunities.
  • Assortment management and optimization, across consumer segments, adding or segmenting products working in partnership with the suppliers.
  • Lead & prioritize work with internal stakeholders like Channel, Marketing, Assortment & Inventory within their product categories.

Minimum Requirements
  • 7+ years experience in category management, digital marketing / sales
  • 4+ years experience in eCommerce

Critical Skills
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with manufacturers
  • Previous experience in vendor management, contract negotiations and service agreements
  • Experience building assortment in the health care space
  • Ability to lead in multifunctional organization, to prioritize, and see-through execution of tactical plans to grow category
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and financial acumen
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills with a large variety of audiences
  • Ability to translate strategic vision into tactical plans and influence adoption of prescribed actions
  • Ability to analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
  • Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
  • Liaise with marketing teams to determine the optimal marketing programs for their categories

Additional Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience selling on Amazon, Walmart, or large websites
  • Strong interpersonal and influential skills
  • Presentation skills and Relationship Management
  • Leadership in a matrix organization with the ability to communicate ideas to stakeholders and senior decision-makers
  • Strong MS Office skills include intermediate to advanced Excel

Education
  • 4-year degree in business, finance, marketing, IT or related field, or equivalent experience
  • MBA preferred

Working Conditions:
  • Traditional office environment

  • Large percent of time performing computer-based work is required
  • May be required to travel less than 5% of the time

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$103,700 - $172,800
