Position Purpose:
Serves as the lead for PANTHERx payer relations team to include US payer strategy and oversees payer relations team member activities in a specialty pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the Senior Director, Payer Strategies for PANTHERx Rare Pharmacy responsible for the budget and long-term strategic planning to ensure PANTHERx continues to have reimbursement alignment with financial goals of the organization.
  • Oversees PANTHERx Rare in building and maintaining payer stakeholder relationships with goals to supporting the strategic and profitability goals of PANTHERx Rare in a proactive approach.
  • Responsible for payer sales leads of strategic importance to PANTHERx; assess customer needs and suggest strategic solutions; oversees the respond to customer inquiries.
  • Develops and oversees the use of the payer sales team data to meet the profitability goals of the organization and assures that all day-to-day issues are resolved on a timely basis. Oversees use of payer-related data metrics in collaboration with operational and pharmacy staff, business and KPI summary reporting and presentation for executive leadership
  • Responsible for profitable negotiations in payer request for pricing, contracts, and amendments. Analyze contract language and financial parameters to maximize profit and ensure business risk is mitigated and compliance is maintained.
  • Professionally represent PANTHERx to payers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and other industry stakeholders to support PANTHERx access to exclusive and limited distribution opportunities.
  • Responsible for the development of content for payer account management regular business reviews to include payer level key performance indicators related to drug utilization for each drug program supported by PANTHERx.
  • Responsible for the maintain detailed records of all contracts and meetings; creates reports and sales analytics for monthly review against PANTHERx organizational goals
  • Seeks unique opportunities to further define PANTHERx’s value proposition to payer clients
  • Supports as a subject matter resource/liaison regarding PANTHERx payer strategy
  • Assures payer team has successful working relationships with other PANTHERx associates; ensure payer team support when needed
  • Participates and performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required to be successful in this role.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pharmacist (BS Pharmacy or PharmD)
  • Five or more years of specialty payer pharmacy experience
  • Previous management experience including responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work and managing performance of staff
  • Strategic vision and critical thinking capacity, creativity and ability to work across internal and external key stakeholders
  • Proven ability to negotiate win-win solutions with payers and pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Well organized, strong attention to detail, strong organizational, problem-solving, process management and analytical skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and bring projects to completion
  • Exceptional ability to win new business with proven track record of meeting/exceeding individual business goals and objectives
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PharmD, MBA
  • Five or more years in specialty pharmacy payer negotiations, contracting and account management
  • Three or more years of progressive leadership/management responsibility required
  • Ability to synthesize data related to various payer market trends, product changes and financial metrics to recommend pricing or pricing strategy
