Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status.

Purpose of the Position:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will work with Nevada Copper engineering and field personnel to develop scopes of work for a variety of electrical and control systems impacting underground mining and milling systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer will analyze existing electrical systems making cost-effective improvements, conducting research, designing testing methods, complete quality assurance, inspect the equipment, conduct diagnostics, as well as train other team members. The Senior Electrical Engineer will liaise directly with third party engineering services and suppliers to maximize value of electrical systems and infrastructure.

Accountability:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will report to the Tech Services Manager with supporting roles to the Mine Manager and Process Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical design plans and work schedules
  • Liaising with clients and other engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
  • Establishing relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, other professionals, and expanding networks
  • Maintaining and improving existing engineering processes
  • Participating in conferences, events, and networking and learning opportunities
  • Preparing budgets, schedules, company regulations, and various other documents
  • Analyzing existing processes and scheduling meetings to discuss improvement initiatives
  • Conducting research, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting equipment
  • Assisting with recruitment, training, and onboarding
  • Ensuring a safe, positive work environment

Knowledge / Education:

The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Underground Mining experience
  • Extensive practical electrical and instrumentation experience
  • Knowledge of Load Studies, Short Circuit Studies and Arc Flash Studies.
  • Additional license or certification may be required
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Practical experience with CAD software
  • 7+ years of relevant experience preferred

Physical Demands:

The incumbent will work in an industrial and office environment and must be able to:

  • Operate a vehicle with a valid driver s license
  • Climb stairwells and be capable of working on elevated platforms
  • Walk on uneven ground
  • Periodically work in adverse weather conditions
  • Lift and potentially carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Stay alert during periods of inactivity

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:

The incumbent will be required to work 40 hour/week schedule, primarily from Monday through Friday. Position may require weekend or evening work depending on organizational and operational requirements. Ability to work extended hours as operational needs require to support projects. Personal Protective Equipment required for this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and steel-toed boots.
