SR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

Purpose
The goal of the Senior Financial Accountant is to support the Finance Manager and the Global Finance team with financial analysis, planning, process improvement, operational performance improvement and financial reporting. The Senior Financial Accountant will analyze and prepare the company's financial transactions with accurate and timely monthly financial statements within a defined timeline outlining material movements or variances for Management review.

Responsibilities

• Performs Monthly Process
• Calculate and prepare journals for Percentage of Completions for Revenue recognition on a monthly basis
• Reviews contracts to ensure appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with our revenue recognition policy (USA and Mexico entities)
• Work with Project Managers for project accrual calculations and journals
• Ensure all intercompany transactions are posted
• Review and preform calculations for monthly journals, including SG&A accruals and pre-payments. Identifies and explains any variances against the budget.
• Reconciles monthly balance sheet accounts, including ledger to subledger to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance and provides commentary on variances
• Assists in the timely preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statement for completeness including P&L, Balance Sheet and variance analysis
• Work with Project managers weekly on project status, billing milestones and cash receipts
• Prepare cash forecast for review bi-weekly
• Prepare Percentage of Completion forecast bi-weekly for Revenue Recognition
• Prepare quarterly project profitability reporting for margin analysis
• Assist with the preparation of annual budget process
• Compile files and coordinate with external auditors for annual audit
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or related education is required
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a full cycle accounting role is required
• Proven experience with financial reporting requirements, general ledger functions and the month end/year end close processes and audits
• Project Accounting experience required
• Demonstrated experience using knowledge of GAAP
• Must be proficient in spoken and written English

Technology

• Basic knowledge of expense systems (SAP Concur or similar)
• Basic knowledge of other Reporting Tools (Jet Reports, Power BI or similar)
• Intermediate knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Navision, SAP or similar)
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
