As the Senior Information Systems Security Specialist, you will support the USCG in the performance of information systems security assessment and authorization activities, including assessment of information systems security controls, known threats and vulnerabilities for systems and/or networks as Security Control Assessor support.


More About the Role

  • May have flexibility for remote work after initial in-person period
  • Provide cybersecurity policy development support, technical administrative, security assessment, and Independent Verification and Validation services for assigned systems
  • Provide information systems security support for Continuous Monitoring Support Services, Zero Trust Implementation Support, and provide Cybersecurity Maturity model Certification technical, administrative, and certification services
  • Validate security controls and conduct DoD assessment procedures in accordance with NIST SP 800-53, provide a summary of failed controls in the Risk Assessment tab in eMASS
  • Collaborate with the SCA and other program resources to complete the Security Assessment Report for assigned systems
  • Recommend corrections to eMASS records, updates to POA&Ms based on assessment results, and ensure traceability of vulnerabilities from raw assessment results for assigned systems
  • Recommend policies and procedures to meet security control requirements, attend required meetings and brief USCG product line, division, and section leads on the status of current/future validation efforts, and support the continuous monitoring program, as needed, for assigned systems
  • Provide Risk Management Framework artifacts and engineering analysis results via telecom, email, and/or face-to-face communication mediums for assigned systems


You’ll Bring These Qualifications

  • Minimum of an active Secret clearance required
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • BA/BS or equivalent years of relevant experience
  • DoD 8570 IAT II or IAT III certification(s)
  • Intimate understanding of NIST RMF implementation guidance.
  • Well-developed understanding of Federal Civilian or DHS Security Assessment and Authorization processes
  • In-depth understanding of the relevance of NIST Security Controls and Control Implementation methodologies for the Security Assessment and Authorization process.
  • Knowledge of critical documentation required for Security Authorization Packages.
  • Able to understand and support Privacy Compliance Activities to include the development of Privacy Impact Analysis, Privacy Threshold Analysis, and Statement of Record Notices.

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

  • Familiar with eMASS and Xacta highly preferred
