Primary Function:
The Senior Maintenance Technician guarantees the proper operation of all equipment by performing comprehensive diagnosis and repair on all types of manufacturing equipment. Each day is unique, and you may be called upon to resolve an emergency situation or you may adopt new ideas and adjust equipment to increase efficiency. The Senior Maintenance Technician will interact with other technicians, machine operators, supervisors, and department managers to fix mechanical difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
- Diagnoses causes of electrical, mechanical malfunction, failure of equipment, systems repair, and replaces defective components.
- Tests electrical circuits and components to locate shorts, faulty connections, and defective parts and replaces or repairs.
- Support and follow the Lock Out / Tag out program.
- Interface with equipment operators and maintenance staff to ascertain problems with equipment.
- Disassembles, replaces, or repairs mechanical and electrical components.
- Repair electronic equipment and industrial controls.
- Must make electrical/mechanical diagnostic evaluation and prescribe corrective action without assistance from others.
- Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation to ensure equipment and systems conform to engineering design, and Federal and State codes.
- Enter work order/ product materials repair and parts allocation into C.M.M.S.
- Dismantles devices to gain access and remove/replace defective parts.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical/mechanical problems.
- Devises, selects, sets up, and operates electronic instrumentation.
- Installs wiring and electrical components to conform to all codes, regulations and specifications.
- Performs preventive maintenance, maintains records and interprets logged data for repair or replacement. Maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests.
- Perform scheduled Safety and Environmental inspections, ensure that any corrective or remedial actions are completed and maintain records of the process.
- Must adhere to all GMP and Food Safety Policies and Practices.
- Knowledge of applicable NEC and NFPA codes.
- Must read and interpret electrical and electronic drawings, schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings and sketches to determine problem and make appropriate repairs.
- Must fully understand and adhere to the ARC Flash & electrical shock prevention policy.
- Complete understanding of Plant electrical systems, including DC voltage and AC voltage from 24V to 480V.
- Instrumental in the training of Maintenance Technicians, Set Up Technician and Operators in performing repairs and adjustments.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Two years of experience working in a maintenance environment or an associate degree in a discipline relevant to maintenance
- GED or high school diploma
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
- Issues and solutions are communicated effectively to cross-functional team members.
- Capability to read and comprehend electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
- Competent in the operation of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinders, drill presses, milling machines, and lathes, as well as a variety of power tools.
- Competence in the use of precise measuring instruments such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges
- Willingness to serve as a technical leader and instructor in a particular area of a plant or machine center.
