We are seeking a senior operational systems test engineer to contribute to the design, integration, test, and evaluation of complex, next-generation airborne warfare systems and techniques. You will join a dedicated team of engineers and scientists who work with the Government and Industry to research, develop, model, implement and assess novel solutions to the hardest problems in airborne electronic warfare. We are passionate about providing advanced EW systems to protect our service members in challenging and contested environments.

As a Senior Operational Systems Test Engineer ...
  • You will assess the operational utility of these systems and how they contribute to overall mission success.
  • You will work with government and industry teams to develop and execute test and evaluation plans to stress systems to ensure they meet the operational needs in challenging and contested airborne environments.
  • You will work with engineering teams to implement lessons learned from test and operational deployment of these systems to improve future system performance and optimize warfighter effectiveness.
  • You will utilize your operational knowledge to train other APL staff in the operations and tactics of military platforms and systems.

Qualifications


You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you ...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another related discipline.
  • Have extensive, relevant experience in development, integration, and/or test of hardware or software systems.
  • Are skilled in working in a team with numerous engineers at various levels of experience and technical skills.
  • Are willing to travel between the APL Laurel and Lexington Park offices and within the national capital region.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Have a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another related discipline.
  • Have extensive experience in operations, development, integration, and test of hardware or software systems on naval aviation platforms.
  • Have experience working with USN/USAF Developmental or Operational Test organizations.
  • Are skilled in EW planning, EW operations or test and evaluation of complex systems.
  • Have an active Secret clearance.
