BAE Systems seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer with substantial Gun Hardened experience. This will be a HYBRID position and we welcome applicants from across the country.
In this role, you will lead design activities as well as teams within our Precision Strike & Sensing Solutions business area. This role will require an engineer with proven technical and leadership skills, who will mentor more junior members of the team. It is essential that this individual be capable of working in a diverse, remote work environment.
In this highly dynamic and fluid environment, we develop cutting edge mechanical, optical, and electronic solutions to survive within challenging, high-G environments associated with our smart munition technologies. Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a Hybrid Work Format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

You’ll execute research, development, and consulting assignments of a professional technical nature where extensive and diversified knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices is necessary to successfully accomplish general goals and objectives.

As a Mechanical Engineer within Precision Strike & Sensing Solutions business area, you will be involved with the design of hardware for gun-launched, guided projectile programs. You will have the opportunity to lead the design of innovative solutions that will be used in the challenging artillery gun launched environment. You will be integral in the mechanical design for projectiles as the designer/selector of components for structures, radomes, bearings and electronic/electro-mechanical/opto-mechanical components and devices including but not limited to:

- Defining and driving design/test strategy for team on gun launched munition
- Gun launch munition design and testing expertise, high-G loading
- Structural design experience/background and experience with nonlinear explicit dynamic structural analysis
- Solid leadership and understands balance of technical & schedule along with team coordination/motivation skills
- Track record of driving to closure with exceptional organization skills
- Strong technical communication to execution team, company leaders, and with customers
- Eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance
