About the Role:

Sr. Project Engineer at BoxPower is responsible for leading project development, design, and deliverable creation for multiple projects. They will maintain and update Project Engineering templates for standardized documentation. Must be capable of visiting project sites for assessment to complete feasibility studies.

The Sr. Project Engineer will externally coordinate with clients, vendors, and sub contractors. Internally will coordinate with Project Management, Product Engineering, and Energy Systems Engineers.


This role reports to the Project Engineering Manager. The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $120,000 annually depending on experience and extended responsibilities. This role can be performed remotely or at BoxPower HQ in Grass Valley, CA. Up to two weeks of travel to sites required per quarter. Remote employees are required to visit Grass Valley HQ at least once a quarter.


Responsibilities:

  • Own site development design with experience in Boundaries, Parcel Maps, Storm Water Permitting, AHJs (Federal, State, Local, CEQA).
  • Conduct site visits to collect relevant site-specific information and determine project feasibility. Supporting and training other project engineers to do the same.
  • Oversight, reviewing, performing Designs for Drawing Sets in AutoCAD / PDF
  • Understand the Project Engineering process and execute from the initial feasibility study phase through project completion.
  • Own and engineer development deliverables for your projects.
  • Review customer technical needs and develop solutions to meet those needs.
  • Develop technical requirements and scope of work for Request For Bid.
  • Innovate by analyzing and creating solutions for minimizing project footprint.
  • Provide technical design and engineering support to the sales team
  • Bid turnkey microgrid projects
  • Provide technical drafting documentation for proposals
  • Own the comments, submittal, RFI process for your projects.
  • Compile/organize completed engineering deliverables for a milestone

Requirements:

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards in civil design, including site layout, grading, erosion control, storm sewer, water, sanitary sewer, and roadway. Must be able to estimate grading and backfill quantities.
  • Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer License (a plus)
  • Proficient Designing in AutoCAD
  • Must have construction/field experience
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and manage numerous projects/tasks simultaneously, frequently within an aggressive and compressed schedule
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients
  • Proactiveness, team player and willingness to teach and learn from others. Will mentor less experienced Project Engineers.
  • A genuine excitement & interest to see a world powered by renewable energy
  • Experience with PVSyst (a plus)
  • Renewable experience such as BESS or Solar PV (a plus)
