● 10 years+ property management accounting experience, including multifamily apartments.
● Experience in the Real Estate Industry
● Self-starter able to work independently
● Extensive experience with AppFolio and QuickBooks
● Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook
● Strong computer and web skills
● Strong organizational skills
Responsibilities:
Position
The successful candidate will review all in place accounts, property setups and operations, creating new processes and procedures for a successful operation. You will be responsible for reviewing properties already set up in AppFolio, correcting errors and closing out inactive accounts. The company performs property management for both third party owners and its own investment holdings. You will also contribute to the accounting setup and procedures for the overall company, which also has brokerage and Asset Management divisions.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide training and consultation to the Property Accountant
- Review work performed by the Property Accountant
- Correct entries in AppFolio dating back several months
- Track cash balances across several accounts
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations
- Reconcile GL and tenant accounts as needed
- Special project requests (related to operating property matters) as needed.
What Do You Need to Succeed?
- 10 years+ real estate accounting experience
- Must be an expert in AppFolio
- A working knowledge of QuickBooks is also required
- Strong analytical and critical‐thinking skills
- Experience in the real estate industry
Terms/Expected Hours of Work
· The assignment should have a duration of 3-4 months
· Work schedule will be 40 hours per week
· Some work can be performed remotely.
· Periodic in person meetings at the company office in Torrance will be required, if at all possible
· Zoom meetings may be used in lieu of in person
Accounting Operations
· Review all properties in AppFolio
· Eliminate all diagnostic discrepancies, as shown in AppFolio
· Report all errors and recommend solutions
· Provide guidance to the Property Accountant for completing day to day accounting tasks
· Document and/or update accounting procedures.
· Identify process improvement opportunities to be evaluated.
● Act as the project manager for our initiative to streamline our accounting processes. The goal is to utilize AppFolio for all transactions. Previously many payments were processed outside of AppFolio (often in QuickBooks)

Pay: From $45.00 per hour
