We are seeking a highly self-motivated Senior Scientist with excellent communication and scientific problem solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The Senior Scientist will participate in laboratory activities and provide scientific expertise to prepare and analyze critical protein reagents in support of a large bioanalytical laboratory. Lab activities include but are not limited to: protein conjugation, purification, and characterization. This role also manages and prioritizes projects and works with CROs to outsource critical reagent generation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct day-to-day experimental reviews of the reagent preparations, develop the team’s strategy for reagent quality control in a regulated environment, and prioritize laboratory work in order to meet the needs of the bioanalytical programs.
• Provide technical guidance for day-to-day protein biochemistry related tasks for the group, including routine and novel protein purifications, conjugations, and characterization.
• Serve as a critical point of contact between internal and external teams to assure that reagent needs are being met on behalf of the group.
• Work under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy, analyze complex issues and significantly improve, change or adapt existing methods and techniques (e.g. AKTA, HPLC, LC-MS) to improve reagent preparation function.
• Use emerging developments in relevant scientific fields to generate new research ideas and initiatives to support different therapeutic modalities such as multi-specific mAbs, ADC, gene therapy, and cell therapy. Advocates the use and need for new technology to support long-term research plans.
• Support accurate and compliant record keeping and experimental data integrity with the use of the electronic lab notebook and standard databases.

Qualifications

Education:

• Ph.D. in Life Sciences or a related field with 3-5 years of experience or
• M.S. degree in Life Sciences or a related field with 8-10 years of experience is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Protein purification skills with affinity, ion-exchange, and size exclusion chromatography using AKTA or other protein purification system is required.
• Protein analysis skills with HPLC, SDSPAGE, UV280 is required.
• Familiarity with commonly used protein conjugation methods such as NHS ester conjugation and thiol conjugation is required.
• Excellent communication and team working skills, ability to work on multiple projects, balancing priorities to meet deadlines as needed is required.

Preferred:

• Experience with managing outsourcing and supply chain is a plus.
• Monoclonal and polyclonal antibody purification and conjugation experience is preferred.
• Mass Spectrometry experience is preferred.
• Experience with ligand binding assays such as Octet or SPR is a plus.
• Experience with molecular cloning, mammalian cell transfection and expression is preferred.
• Experience with bioanalytical assays such as MSD or ELISA is preferred.
• GxP lab experience is a plus.
