Based in our Austin, TX location, you will be welcomed into a diverse community and work as a member of one of the cross-functional agile teams responsible for the development of DeltaV. DeltaV is the state of the art, flagship distributed process control system used by many of the top companies in chemical, life sciences and energy industries. It consists of a variety of rich desktop and web applications used for engineering and operating a process control system, plus real-time embedded firmware in controllers and field devices directly controlling the process. Successful applicants would be expected to enhance and maintain existing products as well as develop and test the next generation of DeltaV. Come join us!
This role has the flexibility of a work-from-home option up to three days a week. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.
AS A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, YOU WILL:
- Collaborate – Foster a creative atmosphere and work with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Marketing to effectively support the development and test needs of the software and firmware. Participate in agile activities like sprint planning and retrospectives and take part in Hackathons, Tech-talks, and Communities of Practice with like-minded people.
- Innovate – Develop and test technologies to maintain our market leadership using the latest tools and frameworks. Design and implement system level test cases from a customer perspective, create and enhance test configurations, discover, isolate, and document product defects and validate repaired defects/faults.
- Automate – Write automated tests to continue building our automation pipeline and a release-ready product. Write scripts to handle small and large tasks.
- Iterate - Help the scrum team continuously improve its environment and processes.

You show a tremendous amount of initiative in tough situations and are exceptional at spotting and seizing opportunities. You take on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks. You deliver messages in a clear, compelling, and concise manner.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering degree AND 7 or more years of relevant work experience
- OR Master’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering degree AND 6 or more years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrate strong proficiency with C# or C++, object-oriented design, data structures, and multi-threaded applications
- Experience using Microsoft development tools and the Windows OS
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Familiarity with Windows or web application development
- Familiarity with one or more of the following:
- WPF
- HTML5
- JavaScript
- WCF
- Web Frameworks (e.g. React)
- Experience with microservices based application architecture including containerization and orchestration
- Familiarity with design and querying of one or more database types
- Understanding or experience with Process Control of Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Familiarity with Agile development using Scrum or the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Familiarity with Git-based source control
- Experience in developing automated unit and/or end-to-end software tests
