Senior Software Engineer
Education and Certifications:
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Security+ (obtain within 6 months of hire).
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
Years of Experience: 10+ years
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Position Description: Work under the direction of engineering staff to develop, test, integrate, and install control systems for Navy Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems. Travel to shipyard locations to support the installation, troubleshooting, and upgrade of HM&E systems aboard ships.
Desired Experience:
- Understanding of mechanical systems including engines, propulsion systems, and fluid control systems.
- Understanding of Programmable Logic Circuit (PLC) code
- Understanding of Rockwell structured text language
- Understanding of VME-based systems
- Experience working in Linux CentOS
- Understanding of protocols and interfaces such as Modbus RTU, profibus, hardware 0 to 10 volts, 4-20 mA
- Experience with sensors: transducers, limit switches, thermocouples, Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD)
- Strong familiarity with electrical/mechanical drawings
- Experience with configuration management tools: GIT, Sourcesafe, clearcase
- Understanding of SIM/STIM device development and use
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment
- Ability to move up/down ladders, along narrow companionways, and lift and carry equipment and tools weighing 25 lbs.
- Ability to travel, including internationally
- Good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
