Job description
Student Financial Services is a comprehensive provider of financial aid and student employment services to prospective and current students, parents of students, and past students. SFS assures compliance with federal and state regulations for eligibility of financial aid and administration of financial aid programs.
This position provides administrative oversight and technical support for the Student Financial Services team and oversees and performs system configuration. The Senior Banner System Analyst for SFS collaborates with the Director of SFS in the administration and management of federal, state, and institutional program funds with current policy and regulatory changes. In addition, this position makes key workload decisions in completing reports and data requests for Institutional Research, various reporting entities, and CSU Pueblo Departments. Other operations-related responsibilities include review and update of the SFS Office policies and procedures with collaboration from the Director of SFS. This position also assists with all state reporting requirements.
Oversight of systems ensures the services provided by SFS are appropriately supported by computer systems that meet student needs, provide professional and efficient service, and comply with the rules and regulations for Federal, State, Institutional, and private financial aid sources. This position provides leadership and direction in the efforts to achieve these goals by working with SFS staff and as well as other stakeholders at CSU Pueblo and the CSU system to prioritize and develop strategies that allow inter/intra-action and coordinated interpretation, analysis and development of IT systems supporting regulatory and policy requirements. The position contributes to a collaborative work environment and seeks out innovative approaches for service delivery to students.
Primary Duties
Database and Systems Administrator
- Manage all system improvements and configuration changes, which require technical knowledge such as SQL.
- Oversee and manage Banner security classes, objects, and user access requests.
- Assist in obtaining additional personnel to provide technical support, such as non-student hourly contracts, consultants, and internal IT and supervise these additional support contracts as needed.
- Troubleshoot all system issues and work with appropriate area (IT, Fort Collins, Ellucian) to resolve.
- Develop process flows and collaborate with Fort Collins automation team to schedule jobs.
- Coordinate with Fort Collins IS for all system upgrades and patches and coordinate testing outside of normal business/office hours of operation such as evenings and weekends.
- Perform annual New Year Roll in Banner.
- Review all annual configuration and set-up. Update majority of SQL including population selections, rules and algorithms. Perform testing in a test environment and move all configuration to production. Coordinate with Fort Collins automation team to update and set up all scheduled processes for the new year.
- Provide support for report requests and data analysis.
Provide leadership by being a representative on stakeholder committees and participating in meetings with IT/IS and Ellucian
Provide training, cross training, and timely responses to questions related to SFS systems, policies, procedures, and processes connected to technology and data. Potential audiences will include SFS staff and other campus stakeholders.
Work with director of SFS to ensure that training creates adequate redundancies to limit disruptions to work due to employee absences.
Provide timely updates to stakeholders regarding system issues and enhancements.
Monitor, revise, and create all SFS policies, processes, and procedures related to technology and data.
Provide historical context for operational decisions to the SFS director and assist with other SFS tasks as needed.
Ancillary Duties:
Represent CSU Pueblo at conferences, training opportunities, on- and off- campus committees, and provide financial aid/scholarship information (through both meetings and presentations) to students, parents, and faculty/staff
Salary Range
$55,000 - $65,000
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Microsoft Office expertise
- Experience writing and understanding SQL
- Experience with and commitment to working with diverse student populations.
- Experience engaging in tactful and effective customer service
- Master’s degree
- Bachelor’s degree in CIS or related field
- NASFAA Certifications
- Three or more years of experience in financial aid.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations and compliance for administration of financial aid.
- Demonstrated knowledge of / experience with Banner financial aid system
