About the job
Does a position that will enable you to work in different areas of tax (state, federal, international) for a global industry leader interest you? This multi-faceted opening will work in our Tax Department as a member of the team responsible for the Federal, State, and International tax compliance. The position will also include various special assignments on an as needed basis including tax research and documentation, and tax data management. The position will also have some involvement in the tax accounting process to ensure the accurate reporting of Alcoa’s worldwide effective tax rate.
Major Activities/Key Challenges
  • Assist with the accurate and timely preparation of Alcoa’s consolidated US income tax return and federal estimated tax payments.
  • Preparation of US international tax Forms including 1118, 5471, 8858 and 8865.
  • Preparation of property tax returns.
  • Preparation of state income tax returns and estimated tax payments.
  • Review of tax packages and coordinating data flows into the tax returns.
  • Participate in compiling tax and financial information for decision making.
  • Conduct research on tax issues and prepare written documentation of conclusions.
  • Special projects driven by tax planning efforts and nonroutine transactions such as reorganizations, acquisitions, and joint ventures
  • Provide support to the tax accounting group on a quarterly basis on relevant tax accounting issues.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated experience working in corporate tax and/or with a large public accounting firm where you focused on tax issues and/or tax accounting.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft and Onesource products.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • A team player that works well with others.
  • Self-confident and motivated - a self-starter that can work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA, Masters in Taxation, or J.D.; high degree of willingness to continue self education.
  • Experience with OneSource system.
