Position: Senior Test Lead (Future)
Location: Peterson, AFB, Colorado Springs, CO

Position Type/Standard Work Hours: Full-time/40 hours per week

Summary/Objective:
Serve as the test and validation lead for all agile software development activities and is a subject matter expert related to fielding cyber security applications and services; provides expert advice regarding test artifact generation; leads testing automation and verification activities with government direction and collaboration; interaction will be required with ASCA personnel and processes.
  • The program office follows a modern agile development process. This requires government and industry teams collaboratively working together within a DevSecOps environment; using SAFe principles; and implementing lean-agile practices to rapidly deliver new functionality for the software products. The goal is to create a high-performing team, with the government as the lead integrator and maintaining the products baseline, working with subject matter experts (SMEs) to integrate custom developed commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software into software baseline.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide the necessary agile development skills, with experience in delivering software to government agencies, and a focus in defensive cyber capabilities. Obtain flexibility to allow for rapidly changing requirements in a dynamic cyber environment.
  • Adhere to the program’s agile definition of “Done/Ready.”: The code has been written, peer reviewed, merged into the main branch, successfully passed its complete set of automated tests, and finally tagged with a version within the source code configuration management tool and deployed into an artifact repository.
  • Provide experience in continuous delivery development practice that allows frequent releases of value to staging or various test environments once validated by automated and manual testing.
  • Scrum teams are required to integrate their work frequently within the main/release branch based on program guidance, at minimal daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly dictated by the Product Increment (PI) cycle.
  • All development work is done at the controlled unclassified information (CUI) security level.
  • Government will lead integration efforts for agile product & enabling teams.
  • Agile/Scrum teams are required to implement test driven development (TDD) and/or behavioral driven development (BDD) practices and meet the minimum of 80% or more coverage of the code base. Implement linting to evaluate code for programmatic and stylistic errors, and unit test to test all pieces of code.
  • Prepare and participate in Government led agile and/or DevSecOps ceremonies.
  • Assist Government product owners in improving performance through areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity utilizing agile principals.
  • Assist Government product owners in creating increments of value each iteration and achieving daily and iteration goals in the context of the current PI objectives.
  • Assist Government product owners on iteration backlog refinement, program flow of features, user story, and task prioritization.
  • Provide expertise in development of cyber applications and secure code best practices including but not limited to: dead/unused code, exception/error handling, secrets, input validation, error handling logging access control, and in accordance with applicable industry, DOD, DISA STIG’s, OWASP top 10, policy, and procedures.
  • Provide expertise in functional, integration, automated, dynamic and statice security and testing for code development.
  • Provide expertise in CI/CD best practices, sustaining and implementing technologies across the DevSecOps pipeline.
  • Provide expertise in cyber development within a software factory utilizing agile principals and JIRA issue type workflows such as epic, feature, user story, story, task, enabler, spike, etc.
  • Work as a collaborative team to help modernize development processes, discuss technical issues, brainstorm solutions, and review tools in support of the Cyber Operations program office.
  • Provide agile teams for the Cyber Operations government engineering and deployment activities which provide program backlog grooming, code development for the Cyber Operations applications, information technology support, hardware and software deployment activities, documentation and configuration management, infrastructure engineering, network engineering, facilities management, and other tasks as assigned by the program office. Typical areas of software development and testing include, but are not limited to:
    • Mission mapping and mission system network visualization
    • User interface and user experience development
    • Packet capture (PCAP) retrieval and analysis
    • Artifact ingestion for storage, retrieval, analysis, and display
    • System log filtering and analysis
    • Case management
    • Wiki development and management
    • Machine learning as applied to space anomaly protocol decoding & analytics (SADA) for telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C) data analysis.
  • Execute standard agile practices, processes, and governance aligning with the agile DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Continuously and actively engage with other development teams to manage dependencies and resolve impediments.
  • Effectively and efficiently collaborate through participation in standard agile forums.
  • Utilize common tools and libraries as defined with input from the government chief engineer and engineering team. The contents and processes of the software repository include procedures and tools used for developing, testing, and deploying software. The system code base will evolve over time and the Senior Test Lead is expected to help refine these items as part of the Defensive Cyber Software Solutions.
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • 8+ years of test automation related to test-driven development, software test planning, and/or software test automation.
  • Programming language knowledge with background in C, C#, C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
  • 2+ years of use of Artifactory for automation and binary repository lifecycle management.
  • DOD 8570/8140 Certification.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
  • Experience with Manticore and Kraken.
  • Experience with a working/operating in a SCIF environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position will supervise the work of others.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to operate a computer and other standard office equipment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, 80%.
