Voya Investment Management is seeking an experienced investment writer who has the talent, judgment and motivation to be a strong contributor and leader within the marketing team.
The Senior Financial Writer will report to the Head of Thought Leadership & Investment Communications. The individual will work closely with client portfolio managers, sales leaders, product specialists, investment teams, executive leadership and marketing colleagues to create content about market trends and investment opportunities across public and private market strategies. Projects may include rapid responses to market events, short- and long-form articles, client emails, digital content and other sales support materials.
The role will also provide critical oversight for the firm’s investment commentary process. This function requires exceptional attention to detail, project management skills and deep familiarity with the firm’s investment products. An important part of this position is to develop new, more efficient approaches and formats for delivering commentaries and to leverage content in new ways to support our marketing efforts.
Critical attributes include strong project leadership, superior writing and editing skills, collaboration, timely execution, data visualization and a deep knowledge of financial markets and asset classes. The majority of time will be spent on individual projects, balanced with team discussion and frequent engagement with internal partners, requiring an exceptional work ethic in a largely remote-work environment. Some travel required to attend in-person team strategy meetings (typically 2-4 times per year).

The Contributions You’ll Make:
- Create investor-focused educational content including investment perspectives, market commentary, asset allocation strategy and industry trends
- Provide and receive feedback in the spirit of delivering content that motivates our audience to action
- Develop deep understanding of Voya’s investment strategies to craft effective, information-rich materials
- Each month, as part of commentary oversight, initiate and manage project workflows, direct editorial resources, gather performance and holdings data, respond to questions from commentary authors, troubleshoot system problems and review drafts
- Manage thought leadership projects from inception to publication, keeping deadlines on track and providing timely updates to stakeholders
- Represent the writing team in calls with sales and investment leaders to align priorities, elicit feedback and provide project status updates
- Think creatively to generate high-impact ideas that will help drive asset growth and strengthen Voya IM’s reputation as an investment leader
- Ensure editorial standards are applied consistently across print and digital formats
Minimum Knowledge & Experience:
- 7+ years of experience writing investment insights and market commentaries for institutional investors and other financial professionals
- Strong understanding of macroeconomics, financial markets, investment products and asset management
- Superior writing and editing skills, with a mindset of continuous learning
- Data visualization, leveraging the principles of Storytelling With Data; proficient with Excel analysis and charting tools
- Support inclusive behaviors to cultivate a team-focused culture that values diverse perspectives
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or CFA a plus

Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
