What you will do:
In this role, you will work 60% on sensory projects and 40% on product release / operational improvements. You will work multiple sensory projects with competing priorities and will be part of planning, execution, analysis, and reporting. You will regularly serve as an organoleptic evaluator to assess Tillamook projects to ensure they achieve golden standard specifications. Also, to be a Sensory expert you will help ensure that product release is achieved on time and work toward improving processes that driver overall Operational excellence especially with regards to quality systems.
**Here’s a day in the life:

  • Define best-fit data models for applying Sensory science techniques to answer business questions
  • Extract information from large data sets using statistical modeling. Use data analysis skills to embed sensory science capabilities into application and products.
  • Design sensory studies with cross-functional teams using established sensory testing standards
  • Serve as a Sensory SME (subject matter expert) to improve methodologies, infrastructure and drive overall product quality.
  • Provide back-up support to product release functions as needed
  • Works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization serving as a driver for uncompromising quality.
  • Conduct regular product evaluations; serve as product assessor
  • Technical expert for company technology (Quality Modules); serve as system SME for lab, project, Minitab and enterprise software.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
**EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Sensory Science, Experimental Psychology, Statistics or 2 years of sensory science, marketing research, or product development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
**EXPERIENCE:

  • Skilled in the use of MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word at an intermediate level. Experience with Sensometric management, Minitab or other statistical software.
  • Experience in descriptive and/or flavor analysis preferably in the sensory evaluation of dairy products.
  • Possesses good sensory acuity.
  • Experience maintaining a sense of urgency and prioritization of projects.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Product Stability and Shelf life experience
  • Travel up to 25%
