Job description
Serve guests in a courteous, helpful, and prompt manner. Responsible for coordinating serving stations and communicating with the front and back-of-the-house personnel to provide a dining experience that exceeds our guests’ expectations. Process guest orders to ensure that all items are prepared accurately and timely. Determine when meals have been completed and total bills and accept payment.
Responsibilities:
Duties are as follows but are not limited to:
- Receive and take guest orders and process them in a timely manner through whatever systems are currently used in the restaurant and bar.
- Know all menu items offered at the restaurant. Accurately explains specials to guests. If asked, accurately answers menu items concerning preparation method, ingredients, portion size, and side items accompanying the dish. If asked, specify substitutions for items on the menu.
- Serve food and beverage to guests
- Perform sidework. Operate point of sale system POS.
- Clean tables, straighten chairs and keep the floor free of debris
- Clean service area and replenish as needed. Bus and set tables
- Handle cash and credit transactions
- Communicate with support crew and management
- Follows all end-of-shift checkout procedures with 100% accuracy as specified in the “End of Shift/Checkout Procedures” pertaining to a Server role.
- Follows the alcohol serving procedures regarding beverage service standards, awareness standards, and government regulations with 100% accuracy.
- Maintains a good team environment by assisting other team members with their station duties and sidework when there is a need and/or when available.
- Follows tip reporting regulations 100% of the time by keeping track of daily tips and following reporting procedures outlined by the Internal Revenue Service.
Skills:
- The position requires effective communication with departments and teams.
- Three to six months of related experience and or training.
- Cocktail, wine, beer, and spirits knowledge preferred.
- Must be able to read and communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers, management, and guest.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 20 pounds
- Capable of working in extreme hot or cold environments
- Must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to guest satisfaction.
- Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to 8 hours in length.
- Must be efficient and accurate with money and figures.
- Must possess manual ability to manipulate register system and handle/serve food.
- May be exposed to disagreeable odors, chemicals, and noise, latex plastics, and other materials used for protective equipment
- Flexible schedule required, to include AM/PM, weekends, and holidays
