Setter/Operator

3rd Shift

Dish Factory Fabrication

New Bern, NC – Full Time

Perform repairs and set-up of fabrication equipment to produce parts that conform to specifications with minimal variation. Perform maintenance of these machines. The machines include forming presses for sheet metal, bending machines for sheet metal, expansion machine for sheet metal and welding machines. Processes include washing and passivation of metal parts and bonding of insulating materials to metal parts via infrared heating. Trouble shoots processes and makes necessary adjustments or changes. Work Closely with TF ENG to determine long term solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks process using statistical methods and make necessary adjustments or changes.
  • Follow “training” instructions of the foreman.
  • Observe machine operations and adjust machine for proper operation.
  • Load and position tools into presses and perform change-over
  • Perform adjustment machine stops, stroke pressures, speeds, etc. to achieve minimum part variation of conforming parts at acceptable cycle times.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as required by “Preventative Maintenance Schedule”.
  • Inspect sheet metal parts and work pieces during set-up for conformance to technical specifications and make necessary adjustments to requirements.
  • Adjust welder settings as instructed to achieve conforming parts with minimum variation.
  • Adjust washing, passivation and bonding processes to achieve conforming parts with minimum variation
  • Perform machine repairs as requested and update spare part stock.
  • Participate in problem solving process and perform necessary adjustments or changes.
  • Participate in “Continuous Improvement Process”.
  • Store and clean tools properly and update repair log.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly.
  • Work closely with plant electrician.
  • Operate machines as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Qualification Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED

Good understanding of plant and environmental safety.

Good math skills

Good communication skills

Any of the above requirements/qualifications may be waived for the successful candidate.


Knowledge:

Strong technical knowledge of resistance welding, sheet metal working and industrial controls.

Excellent knowledge of safety practices and procedures around manufacturing equipment.

Excellent knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic components.

Strong technical knowledge to read and interpret technical drawings.

Knowledge of Basic PLC Control Methods.

Must be able to operate all Machine Controls in Fabrication.

Excellent knowledge of safety practices and procedures around manufacturing equipment.


Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years in a technical manufacturing environment.

Minimum of two (2) years experience with resistance welding.

Minimum of two (2) years with Metal Forming Equipment


Machines, Tools Equipment (Office and Industrial), Software:

Calipers, force gauge, scales and height gage. Small hand tools and power tools. Light computer use.

The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the maximum payout potential is 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.
