Position Summary:
Responsible for daily shipping and receiving tasks for all incoming and outgoing product/material including: managing projects by marking material for jobs. In addition: forklift operation, labeling product, change orders, work orders, stock, interoffice transfers, staging shipments, and prepare deliveries via LTL, UPS and other common carriers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Receive incoming hardware, hollow metal, wood doors, other products and/or materials shipments:
· Retrieve packing slips and verify accuracy and condition of shipments against bills of ladings, packing slips, manifests
· Sign necessary freight bills if shipment is accepted
· Process product/material receipt in ERP using the Kendell Purchase Order number
· Notify purchasing department of short ships or incomplete orders; note if any damage has occurred on bill of lading
· Forward packing slips and bills of lading to Accounts Payable
· Use forklift to transport product/material to and from loading dock, trucks, and staging areas
· Organize received material in warehouse or distribute to proper stocking area
· Communicate with Project Managers of complete SO’s, Work Orders, Change Orders.
· Manually unload stock when necessary
2. Label and segregate incoming product/material according to intended use: stock inventory, shop area, other facilities, or for staging:
· Attach hardware marking stickers to corresponding product for jobs
· Label work order/change order product with corresponding wo/co number; indicate the staging location on the order
· Prepare and label product for "Bill and Store" as requested by AR or PM
3. Prepare and ship product, materials, and interoffice shipments using the most cost effective method and/or carrier (UPS, LTL, common courier):
· Adhere to company policy and procedure for shipping materials to jobsites and clients.
· Ensure proper paperwork is completed prior to shipping
· Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates (Contact best priced carrier representative to make pick-up arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials; prepare bill of lading)
· Figure truck space required for LTL shipments and weigh packages for UPS shipments
· Palletize product for shipment when needed
· Aggregate shipments when possible, utilize other means for shipping such as staff traveling between facilities
· Print and mark duplicate delivery tickets for all outgoing product; turn in copy for AR and designate one to be sent with the product
· Attach necessary shipping labels and documents to outgoing product (delivery tickets, interoffice memo, etc.)
4. Report and file freight claims for damaged materials
· Notify project manager or salesperson of damaged product or material
· Forward freight claim paperwork to Accounts Payable
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
5. Participate in shipping and receiving meetings
6. Assist with Mid-Year and Year End Inventory
7. Assisting with local deliveries as needed (Conduct vehicle inspections before departing to deliver materials)
8. Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits; required: use of eye/ear protection, masks; compliance with OSHA standards, organization safety standards, and dress code
9. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the warehouse
10. Assist in the pre-install department as needed
11. Participate in new shipping and receiving process updates and changes
12. Customer Service
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and relatable experience
- Ability to properly use a tape measure and ruler
- Position may require a valid driver’s license, Valid CDL, DOT certificate, and be insurable to drive
- Basic communication and comprehension skills
- Must possess a positive and professional attitude
- Application of basic math
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently
- Physical Abilities: Perform repeated physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
