Job description
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic clinical social worker to serve as a senior social work clinician at the group treatment focused Rapid Access to Flexible Treatment (RAFT) outpatient program. This professional will use their expertise and proficiency to develop psychosocial assessments; create collaborative treatment plans; deliver empirically supported group and individual treatment and provide care coordination services to adults who struggle with serious mental illness and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Assists with oversight, development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of clinical programming at the 20 Vining Street facility.
- Provides individual and/or group therapy and care coordination services to assigned caseload.
- Performs community outreach efforts in an attempt to engage clients and their support systems in MMHC clinical services.
- Provides group supervision to all group facilitators.
- Assists clients directly and/or oversees the coordination of providing clients relevant information and assistance accessing benefits (i.e., SNAP, EADAC, SSI, SSDI, etc.).
- Participates in team meetings, offering input regarding diagnostic impression, assessed needs, case formulation.
- Responsible for ensuring that all documentation for assigned individual clients is completed in a timely fashion in accordance with billing, DMH, and MMHC’ s standards, policies and procedures, meeting 100% of DMH, MMHC and third-party legal requirements for quality assurance and utilization review.
- Leads clinical supervision groups about various specialized topics with the goal of contributing to professional development and further education/training of clinical staff at the Center so as to enhance the quality of care delivered to persons served.
- Collaborates with staff on providing services that promote recovery and independence.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the principles of physiological, psychological, and emotional growth and development.
- Knowledge of and uses of diagnostic procedures employed.
- Ability to motivate clients to participate in individual treatment plans
- Knowledge of new therapies, interventions, and behavioral techniques
- Experience providing outpatient care to persons with severe mental illness
- Ability to participate in a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations and laws governing agency and unit operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, substance abuse and/or who have experienced homelessness.
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
Please Note: This position is 40 hours per week in person at 20 Vining Street, Boston, MA. The incumbent will work from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM on Monday through Friday, days off are Saturday and Sunday.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a clinical social worker after earning a Master's degree in social work.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
- A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.
- One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
A Master's or higher degree in social work is required.
LICENSES:
- Licensure as a Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required.
- Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
