Position Summary
Federal Data Systems (FEDDATA) is looking for a software engineer to join our development team and support capability development for FEDDATA’s Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) SaaS platform, Revelare™. This individual will work within our Platform team to design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, and integrate new capabilities. This includes capabilities such as software components including Frameworks, APIs, Websites, Utilities, Databases, Indexes, and various open-source related tools.
Essential Job Functions
- Reviews new datasets, vendors, and capabilities for collection and integration within the existing SaaS environment.
- Develops software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, following the software development lifecycle.
- Conducts systems analysis and makes recommendations to improve the system to achieve an outcome.
- Identifies opportunities for improving system reliability, security, and stability then working with product owners to prepare backlog items for the team.
- Promotes internal best practices and coding conventions to write and execute tests for your own code, including creating comprehensive unit tests.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees will be required to access; U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is required.
- Must have 7 years of experience in software development.
- Required Security Clearance: None.
- Experience reviewing new datasets, vendors, and capabilities for integration within the existing SaaS environment.
- Experience with the following operating systems, frameworks, and programming languages (or similar).
- Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, HTML, CSS, Shell
- Frameworks: Springboot, PyCharm, IntelliJ, CLI, Gradle, DB’s like Mongo & MySQL
- Operating System(s): Linux (Ubuntu)
- General understanding of networking, databases, operating systems, natural language processing/text analytics.
Desired/Preferred Skills:
- Experience with managing ES clusters, preferably in self-hosted environment is highly desired.
- Experience identifying, collecting, managing, and processing large amounts of data.
- Experience with popular NLP libraries, such as NLTK.
- Experience with Configuration Management is highly desired.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager.
Physical Requirements:
May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
Background Screening/Check/Investigation:
Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
