The Software Supervisor reports to the Software Manager and is responsible for supervising plant operations software engineering projects and direct staff who develop and maintain software applications and system interfaces. Software development and maintenance is through the application of software quality engineering principles. The Software Supervisor interfaces with management, consultants, vendors, developers, and users to prioritize new software/system projects and upgrades. The Software Supervisor supports the computing needs of the Plant Operations organization.
The primary duties consist of directing and supervising groups performing assigned tasks. Works with diverse business groups and customers to implement strategic computing objectives. Mentors and encourages development of junior level employees to take responsibility for their development within the organization.
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Conducts work safely and in a manner that sustains the WTP Nuclear, Safety, Quality Culture.
  • Directs day-to-day activities of the software applications group
  • Interfaces with WTP IS&T group
  • Plans and schedules software applications program activities
  • Oversees the administration and maintenance of software applications and databases to automate work processes
  • Identifies issues and utilizes the project corrective action management system.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
  • Ability to plan and schedule short term activities to deliver quality products on time and within budgets.
  • Ability to supervise and lead a small group of individuals.
  • Aiding in the production of programs and procedures to accept, install, and maintain software after turnover to Startup.
  • Assigns and directs a small team of software staff on software development and software upgrade projects.
  • Demonstrates excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Enforces project software standards and conventions for the design and implementation of new or existing software application programs and reports.
  • Ensures commercial and developed software upgrades are in accordance with software quality procedures.
  • Maintaining qualifications associated with assignments.
  • Provides application support for Oracle and SQL Server database activities including database design, data migration, SQL script writing, and performance improvements.
  • Provides troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to system interfaces.
  • Resolves business or engineering problems through the design and implementation of software applications on automated systems.
  • Reviewing drawings/documents related to the requirements, design/implementation, acceptance tests, and test reports to support Operations requirements for functionality, reliability, maintainability, and quality.
  • Reviews and approves software project plans, requirements, design, and test plans and reports.
  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work.
  • Witnessing testing and conducting a quarterly assessment on the deficiencies identified during software testing.
REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or an equivalent information technology field.
Appropriate training and experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position may be considered in lieu of a degree: 10 years related experience to the position and 20 semester credit hours in technical subjects related to the position, OR completion of 80 semester credit hours in technical subjects related to the position, OR, as related to the position, successful completion of Engineer in Training (EIT) examination or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) accredited through National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), OR a related professional engineer’s license.
Experience: 10 years of control system experience, preference is given to experience in software activities on DOE projects; 3+ years supervisory experience. 1 year of nuclear facility experience required. (Nuclear Experience when used in reference to Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities, is experience acquired at any facility in which radioactive materials are routinely handled, stored, processed, or utilized.)
A Bachelor of Science (BS) may be substituted for up to 3 years of nuclear experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads various size groups of engineers and/or specialists, encouraging employee development and exhibits good leadership principles.

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $107,462.78 - $169,763.78 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
