Sous Chef/Chef Assistant

Alloro Wine Bar & Restaurant in Bandon, OR 97411 is looking for a Sous Chef/Chef Assistant to join our 10 person highly experienced team now. We are in the heart of Old Town Bandon on the Southern Oregon Coast at 375 2nd Street NE.

Responsibilities

*Dedicated to working as a team towards one goal *High familiarity with kitchen equipment, processes, health and safety guidelines *Follow recipes and prepare dishes, followed by generating creative input towards new dishes and menus in accordance with business needs and brand *Weigh and measure ingredients ensuring food costs are met without over portioning or waste along with recipe costing software provided *Basic cooking functions such as kneading dough for fresh bread, pastas, preparing sauces, proteins, vegetarian, vegan and desserts *Mix, wash, peel, chop, grind, strain, slice proteins, starches, vegetables, desserts *Ability to breakdown animal proteins with extreme care and understanding *Label stock and inventory all ingredients ensuring freshness and safety without waste *Anticipate ingredient needs and arrange re-stock accordingly *Ensure a productive kitchen flow that upholds business standards *Able to delegate tasks effectively and assist when needed *Aid culinary team in preparing dishes to recipe *Assist in training new kitchen staff team members *Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, receive deliveries, clean and maintain regularly all kitchen hardware, kitchen cleaning, trash, recycle. *Ordering within budget and perishability restrictions and receiving quality products with concerns communicated immediately for credits and refusals *Willingness to continue to expand and learn throughout your career through numerous methods; at times in unison with team such as employer provided MasterClass, Podcasts, Culinary Forums, etc. *Participate in cooking classes offered to our guests *Additional responsibilities would be included as needed.

Qualifications

*Proven past experience in this position *Experience working as a sous chef, executive chef, or seasoned line chef *Ability to communicate and listen effectively *High familiarity with kitchen equipment, processes, and health and safety guidelines *Able to delegate tasks effectively and assist when needed *Adaptable to high traffic and off season slow traffic and kitchen volume *Food handling certifications that apply *Working knowledge of wine integrations into menu offerings

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Wednesdays. Compensation is $21.00 - $31.00/hour.
