ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & KNOWLEDGEABLE SKILLS
- Plan, prepare and deliver specialized instruction to students with Individualized Education Plans, in both the general education and special education environments that facilitates active learning
- Serve as primary contact for identified students on an assigned caseload on items relevant to a student’s special educations services and/or plans
- Develop and flexibly adjust schedules for student support in accordance with student needs, classroom and building schedules, instructional demands, and IEP goals
- Collaboratively develop and implement compliant and timely Individualized Education Plans (IEP) with all members of students’ IEP teams
- Coordinate with outside agencies to assist students with post-secondary opportunities and services provided to individuals beyond graduation
- Employ a variety of behavioral strategies in support of students’ individual needs and/or Positive Behavior Support Plans
- Develop plans for special education support staff and maintain frequent communication to ensure consistency in service
- Facilitate IEP meetings and development of Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention Plan
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
- Provide guidance, support and meaningful feedback to paraprofessional(s) assigned to caseload students
- Maintain and update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations
- Collaborate with general education staff, school social workers, speech therapists and other ancillary staff
- Participate in grade level, department, school, district, and parent meetings
- Attend and actively participate in professional development activities provided and/or supported by the district
- Perform other duties as assigned
